FAQs

Getting to the Grove

Our mainstage theater is at the Audrey Stanley Grove in DeLaveaga Park. Using GPS, you can run directions to 501 Upper Park Road, Santa Cruz.

Once you pass the clubhouse of the DeLaveaga Golf Course, continue about 0.2 miles and take the next right (look for Shakespeare signage). Continue straight for about 0.3 miles into the Santa Cruz Shakespeare parking lot.

Parking at the Grove

Parking is free for carpools of 4 or more people, and for certain levels of membership. For all others, parking can be purchased by calling the box office in advance at 831-460-6399. Parking passes are $12 per show, or $55 for a season pass. Alternatively you may choose to pay $10 in cash at the gate as you enter the Audrey Stanley Grove.

Dining at the Grove

Line 38 is Santa Cruz Shakespeare’s food and drink experience at the Grove, offering an elevated menu using fresh local ingredients for you and your guests. Come enjoy a variety of tasty bites and classic favorites. Sip on your favorite glass of local wine, beer, or a refreshing specialty cocktail.

Line 38 opens 2 hours before evening performances and 1 hour before matinees.

Picnicking at the Grove

Just past the parking lot, the Boyle Family Picnic Glen overlooking beautiful Santa Cruz with a view all the way to Monterey Bay, is open and available for use prior to every show. Picnic tables may be reserved by members at a certain level. Otherwise tables are available first-come, first-served.

Weather at the Grove

At matinee (daytime) performances, the weather will usually be sunny. Even if it is not hot, direct sun exposure can be uncomfortable, or even dangerous for sensitive audience members. While most of our seats are covered by a large shade structure during the day, certain seats are discounted due to sun exposure. Please be sure to bring sunblock and a hat, and to drink plenty of water!

At evening performances, enjoy the bright stars and – on some nights – a full moon! But remember: we are close to the coastline. When the sun goes down, the temperature drops quickly and the wind can be chilly. Bring outerwear or a blanket to ensure your comfort. There are also jackets and blankets available for sale at the merchandise tent in the lobby.
